Police say three teenagers mistakenly stole human remains from a home because they thought it was cocaine. And that’s not the worst part.
Three teens allegedly stole an Xbox 360, prescription drugs, jewelry, over $800 cash, and the cremated ashes of the homeowner’s father, which they thought was cocaine, Fox2Now reports. A taste test in the getaway car proved it was not, in fact, cocaine. Once they realized the powdery substance was not what the high they were looking for, they simply tossed it out the window.
Devin Gesell, 17, confessed that he was the lookout during the robbery while two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, searched the house for valuable goods, the Smoking Gun reports.
The teens got away, but were tracked down through the IP address of the Xbox when it was connected to the Internet. Gesell faces charges of burglary and two counts of theft; his comrades will be referred to juvenile authorities.
This shocking story is only one of many horrifying tales involving human remains. In December of last year, someone accidentally donated cremated ashes to Goodwill.
Better than tasting them, I guess.
