Looks like the Federal Election Commission is the butt of a joke.
A candidate claiming to be named “Sydneys Voluptuous Buttocks” has filed with the FEC to run for president as an independent.
A website dedicated to the effort, simply titled “Sydney’s Butt,” describes the campaign’s motto: “Please vote for Sydney’s Butt to be the president. After all, every politician is an asshole so what’s the difference?”
The statement of candidacy was filed March 3, 2015. The forms say “The Syd Buttocks Committee” is based in Buffalo, New York. A cursive signature of “Sydney Buttocks” testifies that the filing is “true, correct and complete.”
The filing lists a man named George Boria of Buffalo as treasurer.
Asked for the name of any connected organization, the form lists something called “The Buttology Perspective.”
“Just yesterday I mailed in an application to be placed on the ballot for election day in 2016,” the operator of the campaign website wrote in February. “Hopefully they do not take my unconventional name as a joke and I am accepted unto the ballot.”
Then this month, the website wrote: “The FEC received our Statement of Organization and Candidacy proclamation and we have been accepted as a candidate. In celebration we created our first campaign video.”
That short video is a strange compilation of war scene photos set to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence.” It ends with the words, “break the cycle, vote for Sydneys Buttocks,” on the screen.
A representative with the Sydneys Voluptuous Buttocks for president effort did not immediately return an email from The Daily Caller seeking comment. We’ll update when we hear back.
