In an interview with MSNBC’s “Rundown w/ Jose Diaz-Balart,”  Jason Furman — chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors — blamed the horrible March jobs report on bad weather.

Guest host Craig Melvin noted that March’s jobs report showed “the weakest job growth since 2013. Employers added some 126,000 jobs, less than half the number of gains that were expected. The unemployment rate remains steady at 5.5%… How are we spinning the numbers, Jason?”

And spin he did. “You know, every month I say the same thing. I don’t get too excited when the number’s above what we’re expecting and I don’t get too upset when the number’s below what year expecting.” (VIDEO: White House Refuses To Condemn Harry Reid’s Mitt Romney Lie)

“There’s a bunch of special factors right now,” Furman claimed, ”Issues like weather weighing on the economy in the first quarter. The trend in the last year has been quite good. And what we need to do is make sure it stays.”
