This week’s most notable public school teacher arrested for sex crimes with teenage students is Kourtnie A. Sanchez of Eureka, Kan.
Sanchez, 25, allegedly had sex with multiple students between the ages of 15 and 17, reports Wichita ABC affiliate KAKE.
She is married and evidently a mother of three children, according to the Daily Mail.
The alleged sexcapades occurred over a period of five months while Sanchez was a student teacher during fall 2014 at Marshall Elementary School in Eureka (pop. 2,633).
She was also doing some girls’ volleyball and basketball coaching at the junior high school next door, which is connected to the senior high school, and which is all housed in the same place.
Investigators say Sanchez contacted the teens using social media — specifically Snapchat — and thus in the process committed a number of additional crimes.
The ex-student teacher faces a wealth of charges including unlawful sexual relations, solicitation of unlawful sexual relations, electronic solicitation and promoting obscenity to a minor.
Half the counts are felonies.
Sanchez was arrested and had first court appearance earlier this week. She is currently free on a $50,000 bond.
School district officials hastened to note that Sanchez is not and has never been a district employee.
