Hotelier To Angry Mob Of Gay Activists: Sorry For Talking To Ted Cruz Even Though You Hate Him

Font Size:

Congratulations to Maggie Haberman of the NYT. This is quite a feather in her cap.

Last week, Haberman was skeptical that Ted Cruz can oppose gay marriage without hating gay people. She hasn’t gotten him to shut up about it yet, but here’s the next best thing:

Ian Reisner, one of the two gay hoteliers facing boycott calls for hosting an event for Senator Ted Cruz, who is adamantly opposed to same-sex marriage, apologized to the gay community for showing “poor judgment.”

Mr. Reisner put the apology on Facebook, where a page calling for a boycott of his properties, the gay-friendly OUT NYC hotel and his Fire Island Pines holdings, had gotten more than 8,200 “likes” by Sunday evening.

“I am shaken to my bones by the emails, texts, postings and phone calls of the past few days. I made a terrible mistake,” wrote Mr. Reisner.

Yes, Mr. Reisner, you did. You dared to talk and listen to someone who doesn’t agree with you about everything. You showed tolerance for someone who stands in the way of your goals. You fraternized with the enemy.

Now, you will grovel and beg for forgiveness. You will submit yourself to the whims of the crowd. You will serve as an example to anyone else who dares to defy the howling mob, even unwittingly.

Or you will be destroyed.

Because they’re the good guys.
