Glenn Beck tried really hard Friday morning to get GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul to agree that Senate Maj. Leader Mitch McConnell looks like a turtle. He would’ve taken a grunt, a chuckle — any sound whatsoever. (RELATED: Turtles that look like Mitch McConnell [SLIDESHOW])

But Paul, a 2016 hopeful, wasn’t cracking. He remained strong on Beck’s radio program that also airs on TheBlaze TV.
GLENN: “So do you have any confidence at all – I mean – Mitch McConnell – I’m sorry but you know as we call him here, he’s a turtle head. Because he looks like a turtle and I defy you to look at him and then not laugh because he looks EXACTLY like a turtle. You expect his head to go in past his shoulders – but that’s a different story. Um, he is completely – notice there’s no laughter there on – yeah. He’s very smart. He’s very smart. But yeah Mitch McConnel is already trying to push a clean extension of the Patriot Act. He’s not really on the side of you on this or of us.”
(Rand didn’t respond to the turtle comment.)
“There is a division within the Republican Party. There’s also a division within the country,” said Paul, with absolutely no trace of laughter about the turtle remarks.
Then, after the interview with Rand ended…
STU: “Yeah…He thinks you’re hilarious…”
GLENN: “Oh my gosh – Rand Paul LOVES to joke around about Mitch McConnell” (sarcastically)
STU: “Oh my gosh he was…”
PAT: (Laughing) “Did you sense that too? Inside – now outside he wasn’t but inside he was dying”
GLENN: “It killed him”
STU: “I mean you weren’t saying anything actually bad about Mitch McConnell”
GLENN: “No I just said that he looked like a turtle!”
JEFFY: “Yeah we like to call him around here turtle head!”
STU: “Nothing – but he does look like a turtle”
GLENN: “He does! I defy you – look at that! I defy you to look at Mitch McConnell and not see a turtle!”
STU: “Yeah we’re looking right now – if you aren’t watching on TV – it’s a picture of Mitch McConnell right next to a turtle, it’s almost identical – I can’t tell which one’s which!”
