Quick thinking and bravery by a South Carolina police officer likely saved a drunk man’s life, and it was all caught on a police dash camera.

Mount Pleasant Police Cpl. Adam Willis responded to a call at 4:35 a.m. to find a car in flames.

Willis can be seen running from his car to the burning vehicle. He uses a fire extinguisher to quell some of the flames, and then reaches in to the car and pulls out a man from the driver’s seat.

“I saw an arm holding the steering wheel,” Willis told ABC News today. “I reached in… I thought to myself, ‘Please, just be alive.'”

The officer and the man stumble back to the police car together. As they reach the car at the end of the video, the man’s pants fall down.

The police report described the man as extremely intoxicated and said he had no memory of how the car caught fire.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire. Willis said the man appeared to be fine when he rescued him, but that he was hospitalized just to be safe.

“Corporal Willis’ quick actions saved the man from serious  injury and possible death,” the department said in a statement.

Some outlets edited out the bit of embarrassment for the man at the end, but we did no such thing.
