Rachel Dolezal, former leader of the Spokane, Wash. NAACP chapter, was outed by her parents last week for being a white woman, and now it appears she plagiarized a 175-year-old painting.

A Twitter user first pointed out the stark resemblance between a painting featured on Dolezal’s Art-Pal website and a painting produced by J.M.W Turner in 1840, called ‘The Slave Ship.’

The painting, titled “The Shape Of Our Kind,” also appears on a Blogspot webpage that appears to belong to Dolezal.

It is part of a three-part series, which is described as “representing absence, loss, and closure in relationships. The sharks and doves in this scene symbolize the contrast between cynicism and optimism in the male and female figures and the tumultuous water is offset by the verticality of the sun.”

You can buy the “original painting” for $5,100 on her website.
