Supporters: Obamacare Still Needs Work

Obamacre supporters made clear their dissatisfaction with the current state of the Affordable Care Act after the Supreme Court ruled in their favor Thursday.

Christina Postolowski, a health policy manager of Young Invincibles, told The Daily Caller that although she’s excited about the decision, there are still “some gaps in coverage and loopholes” that need to be addressed. She was mainly concerned with the waiting periods for pregnant women and believed that they should have an option to sign up for coverage year-round.

She is one of many who believe that Obamacare falls short in the pregnancy area. Since pregnancy isn’t considered a “qualifying” condition, pregnant women can go months without coverage for their expensive medical bills.

Ian, an ACA supporter whose mother is in the health care field, was frustrated about a different issue regarding holes in the coverage provided by the health care law.

“I think we need to focus on preventative and emergency care- people aren’t completely covered yet,” he said.

Although the 6-3 ruling upholding the Obamacare state subsidies is a victory for ACA supporters, their hangups about the bill’s coverage and fears that it was rushed suggest the bill may not be as good as many thought.
