TMZ reports that a source close to Macy’s says that they’ve received 30,000 complaints from shoppers within the last two weeks since the department store fired Donald Trump.

These former shoppers agreed with Trump’s immigration comments or believed that Macy’s went too far in cutting him off.

Many of the 30,000 have vowed never to shop at Macy’s again and have been vocal via Facebook, email and on the phone to the department store. Trump tweeted a thank you to these supporters on Saturday.

Donald Trump has sparked a new debate on immigration that has catapulted him to the top of many new 2016 Republican field polls.

“They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us [sic]. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,” the billionaire said in his campaign kickoff speech last month.

These remarks have generated considerable controversy including Univision, NBC, and Macy’s cutting their ties with the Donald. Trump has also received death threats from the drug lord ‘El Chapo’ and the Mayor of Boston has demanded an apology. (RELATED: Liberal Boston Mayor Says Trump Is Not Welcome)

In the wake of Macy’s ceasing to carry Trump ties and apparel, thousands of customers have complained or cut up their Macy’s credit cards in protest.

A Macy’s spokesman tried to brush off the staggering number of complaints by telling TMZ, “Our Facebook page is often times used by our customers to express their feelings or points of view. Many times it does not correlate to any action.”
