In the last game of the 2015 regular season, the Daily Ballers overcame what could easily be called our greatest challenge of the year and rallied through injury to knock off the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Wednesday.
Based on the fact that our opponent drilled and took infield for a good 40 minutes before the game — compared to our half hour of standing around drinking — we knew we were in for a fight.
The bats woke up early for both squads, but solid defense kept the score tied at five after the first four innings of play.

… and then — in the top of the fifth — this happened.
That’s called “keeping your eye on the ball,” kids.
Despite losing our shortstop — not to mention the team’s leading run producer — the Ballers rebounded in storybook fashion. Captain Jake moved over to short, and Howley came in from right to fill in at the hot corner… and we still won … playing a man down.
We’ve got a few weeks off before playoffs, and it looks like Wednesday’s 9-6 victory locked us into the two-seed. No idea who we’ll be playing — sources say: Democratic Institute of “Who-Gives-A-Shit” — but I can tell you this: Daddy’s going to be playing outfield.
