During an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson that aired Sunday, presidential candidate and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb revealed that, though he is running as a Democrat, he actually agrees with Republicans when it comes to key issues like foreign policy and immigration.

“The Democratic party needs to get back to its basic message,” and that means catering to all voters, not just minorities, Webb told Carlson. “Clay County, KY is the poorest county in America, and it’s 94 percent white. They vote Republican because they don’t think the Democratic party has a place for them.”

Additionally, Webb joined Sen. Chuck Schumer in being one of the few Democrats who is openly opposed to President Obama’s proposed Iranian Nuclear Deal. “We need to put country in front of party,” Webb said. “I am worried about the clear implications of that deal.”
