Chris Mintz was shot seven times while charging the shooter at the Umpqua Community College shooting in Oregon. Now a GoFundMe account started to support Mintz has cruised past $500,000 in less than two days.
Mintz, who is in stable condition, repeatedly said, “It’s my son’s birthday, it’s my son’s birthday,” after being shot, according to the Daily Beast. Mintz, an Army veteran in school studying to become a certified fitness instructor, suffered multiple fractured bones and will have to learn how to walk again. None of the bullets struck any major organs. (RELATED: HERO: Meet The 30-Year-Old Army Vet Who Was Shot Five Times Shielding Classmates From Oregon Shooter [PHOTOS])
Mintz has taken to Facebook to let people know he’s going to be okay and that he hopes the other families involved are okay.
Mintz told ABC News that, “I just hope that everyone else is OK. I’m just worried about everyone else.”
The shooter was killed by police after his murderous rampage.
