CNN anchor Carol Costello says that if Joe Biden runs for president, “he’ll just be another white person running on the Democratic side.”
Costello’s commented about the Democratic party on her show, “CNN Newsroom” Friday, where she insisted that while Biden will “he’ll just be another white person running on the Democratic side… If you take a look at the Republican side, some say it’s the most diverse in history.”
Also appearing in the segment were CNN contributor Amanda Carpenter and Hillary Clinton supporter, fundraiser and DNC member Robert Zimmerman.
Carpenter said if Biden runs, “I think it’s going to hurt the Democratic Party with the trifecta of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and [crscore]Bernie Sanders[/crscore], is really as old Washington establishment as it gets. And that plays certainly into the Republicans’ favor.”
Zimmerman claimed “you can never look at Hillary Clinton and talk about her being the establishment because of what she stands for, her background and who she is.” Zimmerman then took to criticizing the Republican field insisting, “Yes, they’re individuals who are accomplished people who represent diverse backgrounds but they campaign like old, rich white people. I mean, when you — from the 1950s, no less.”
Zimmerman suggested, “Ben Carson, for example, [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore], they’re advocating to overturn the 14th Amendment not only to deport undocumented workers but to deport citizens.”
Costello then asked if Zimmerman though Carson was a “real black person” and Zimmerman say, “No, I’m saying they’re advocating an agenda that doesn’t speak to diversity.”
