Chuck Todd said he is “just perplexed at what the heck Jeb is up to” in planning on attacking [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore].
Appearing on “MSNBC Live with Kate Snow” on Tuesday, Todd criticized Bush and his Super PAC, Right to Rise suggesting “to telegraph your shot now while Jeb hasn’t recovered… He’s got to look like a candidate for his attacks [on Rubio] to be credible.”
Todd said, “I’m just perplexed at what the heck Jeb is up to. I can’t imagine the team was telegraphing this Rubio hit that’s in “The New York Times” this morning. So this feels as if Team Rubio getting the best of Jeb and almost saying, ‘Okay, buddy, we know you’ve got to show something tonight. Well we’re going to make sure you can’t do anything against us because you’ll look ridiculous doing it.'”
Todd suggested that there could be a leak inside the Right to Rise Super PAC could be leaking this information and said that “as badly as it went for Jeb going after Rubio the first time, to telegraph your shot now while Jeb hasn’t recovered… He’s sort have got to get his own sea legs back. He’s got to look like a candidate for his attacks to be credible. You know, Rubio right now attacks from Jeb, he can brush off now as saying, well, you’re told to do this because your campaign is suffering. Now, that doesn’t mean he’s fair everybody else and maybe trump makes Rubio his target and Rubio may be the real threat here.'”
In a preemptive response from the Rubio campaign, they released an ad that featured Bush praising the Rubio.
