A pair of space photos taken by astronaut Scott Kelly that sparked interest among UFO enthusiasts this weekend turned out to be a false alarm.

Conspiracy theorists quickly called the photos examples of obvious UFOs in the upper right hand corner of the images. Mainstream media outlets like Fox News and various local affiliates quickly joined in the speculation saying “The truth is out there … maybe.”

“Scott Kelly likes to send out photos of the view from the windows of the space station … and they look cool. This one however has a cigar shaped glowing UFO with a metallic body in it. The UFO is about 25 meters long and 150-200 meters away” according to a blog post on the website UFO Sightings Daily.

Simply brightening the photos with Photoshop as done below, shows that the alleged UFOs are likely part of the International Space Station intruding into the frame.

The object shown is likely the antenna shown below intruding into the picture.

Here’s the tweet that started it all.
