City councilman Marco Rodriguez of Crystal City, Texas, was arrested last Saturday for smuggling three illegal aliens into the United States.
KENS5 reports that this was not the first time Rodriguez smuggled illegal aliens. In the criminal complaint filed against Rodriguez, the 36-year old councilman admitted to the feds that he had done it twice before, driving the illegals to San Antonio and that he was currently hired to transport illegal immigrants.
According to Rodriguez’s Facebook page, it indicates he served in the U.S. Army.
The city councilman was arrested after a Border Patrol agent pulled Rodriguez over. However, prior to being arrested, Rodriguez attempted to run away. Eventually Rodriguez was apprehended and the illegal immigrants were found with him.
Rodriguez indicated to the teds that his previous smuggling trips paid him $500 and $1400.
Rodriguez is currently in a federal detention center and is facing human smuggling charges. He is due in federal court on Thursday.
