The New Hampshire grandmother who shot a man who tried to rob her Monday night, said she believes Donald Trump is the candidate she trusts most with her Second Amendment rights.

The Manchester, N.H. woman appeared on the Jared Goodell Show on WFEA radio channel in New Hampshire Thursday morning. The woman, who remains unidentified, went on the show to urge people to arm themselves for protection.

The woman, who is “always locked and loaded,” was followed home after a trip to the mall by a man identified as 23-year-old Michael Bontaites. When Bontaites attempted to steal her purse, the woman pulled her gun from her pocket and shot him in the upper-chest area. Bontaites was arrested after receiving treatment at the hospital where he had fled.

“When I saw him go for me, it was an automatic reaction to pull the gun out and shoot him,” the woman said.

When asked which presidential candidate she believes will best stand up for her Second Amendment rights, she quickly responded Donald Trump.

“I do like Donald Trump,” she said. “If he got elected I don’t think he would run the White House like he is running his total campaign,” the gun-toting woman added. “I don’t know why he is taking that approach because he does say some outrageous things, but overall I think he would be a good president. I really do.”

“To me the government is a business, and that’s how the government should be run — as a business. And he is a successful businessman.”

Bontaites was charged with attempted robbery Monday night.
