Don McLean was arrested for domestic violence early Monday morning.

The cops were called to the American Pie singer’s house in Camden, Maine around 3 a.m. He was arrested “without incident” on domestic violence charges.

He was later released from the Knox County jail after he posted a $10,000 bail.

McLean sold the handwritten lyrics of “American Pie” last year for $1.2 million because he said he wanted to provide for his family. (RELATED: This Big Nickelodeon Star Just Got Arrested For A DUI)

“I’m going to be 70 this year,” McLean said. “I have two children and a wife, and none of them seem to have the mercantile instinct. I want to get the best deal that I can for them. It’s time.”
