Sen. Ted Cruz stands alone atop the Republican Iowa Caucus field, beating both real estate mogul Donald Trump and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and environmentalists are not thrilled about the global warming skeptic’s victory.

Last night following the close Republican race, a bevy of environmentalists took to Twitter to voice their disdain for the supposedly anti-science, troglodytic Cruz.

Jamie Henn strategy and communications director at environmental activist group 350.org, mused to his followers that Cruz is an antiquated brute. The group is known for trying to browbeat universities and major institutions into divesting from fossil fuels.

Igor Volksy, contributing editor for liberal-leaning media outlet Think Progress, lamented Cruz’s supposed intent on gutting President Barack Obama’s Clearn Air Act as well as the senator’s overall antagonistic relationship with the global warming alarmist crowd.

Volksy later pointed out and criticized Cruz’s suggestion that the global warming crowd is made up of “flat earthers.”

Anti-fossil fuel sophisticates also etched out some time Monday night to voice support for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in his race to beat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Iowa Caucus.

Enter author and 350.org co-founder Naomi Klein, who decided to flip the script and devote a tweet to the socialist Democratic candidate, telling her followers to #ThinkClimate and #CaucusForBernie. Klein is a supporter of Sander’s carbon tax proposal.
