Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton continued their dominance of Deep South states with victories in Mississippi’s Republican and Democratic presidential primaries, respectively, on Tuesday.

Though a New York businessman, Trump has also won contests in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Louisiana. He has also been victorious in Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Virginia.

It’s another blow to Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore], who has long hoped to do well with Christian conservatives and tea party voters in the South.

In the Democratic race, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with the help of the party’s African American voters, defeated Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the state.

Like Trump, Clinton has also relied on wins in southern states, including in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Virginia, to propel her into the lead.
