Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that Iran must face sanctions for repeatedly violating U.N. missile launch regulations.

“I am deeply concerned by reports that Iran has tested multiple missiles, which it claimed were stamped with words declaring that ‘Israel should be wiped from the pages of history,'” the former secretary of state announced in a statement. “This rhetoric is repulsive and has no place in the community of nations, and as President I will continue to stand with Israel against such threats.”

“This demonstrates once again why we need to address Iran’s destabilizing activities across the region, while vigorously enforcing the nuclear deal,” she continued. “These missile launches constitute a blatant violation of Iran’s UN Security Council obligations, and such violations must have consequences.”

“Iran should face sanctions for these activities, and the international community must demonstrate that Iran’s threats toward Israel will not be tolerated.”

Back in 2015, Clinton heartily supported the nuclear agreement President Obama brokered with Iran. (RELATED: Clinton Announces Support Of Iran Nuclear Deal)

She called it “the path of diplomacy” and the best chance to “block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon,” despite national intelligence director James Clapper cautioning that Iran views the agreement as “a means to remove sanctions while preserving nuclear capabilities, as well as the option to eventually expand its nuclear infrastructure.” (RELATED: Intel Chief Breaks From Obama Narrative On Iran Deal)

RNC spokesman Michael Short provided TheDC with the following statement on Clinton’s announcement:

The Clinton-Obama nuclear deal is an open invitation for more Iranian aggression which we are once again seeing with these ballistic missile tests. The fact that this agreement gave away important leverage on their missile program while never ultimately blocking Iran from obtaining an atomic bomb underscores how reckless and misguided the Clinton-Obama foreign policy really is.
