Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus hopes that Thursday night’s Republican debate is “more of a G-rated debate this time.”

Appearing on CNN’s “Wolf” on Wednesday, host Wolf Blitzer asked Priebus if he had spoken to the candidates to “urge them to calm things down” and he said “Ya, I mean, we’ve spoken to campaigns.”

Priebus added, “Obviously, I think there are some things that can be done as well that CNN is going to do. Like, you know, not micing the audience and you know, I think talking to the audience about participation a little bit you know, just keeping things a little bit more cool in the debate hall.”

“But you’re right, it comes down to the candidates, obviously, it is helpful if we get a look at the big picture, as opposed to the petty fighting that goes on,” Priebus said. “We want that to be a debate that’s more of a g-rated debate this time opposed to some of the things that have been said in the past.”

In last week’s Republican debate on Fox News, Donald Trump responded to Sen. [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore]’s criticism of his “small hands” by insisting that he was in fact well endowed. (RELATED: Donald Trump Clarifies The Size Of His Junk On National TV [VIDEO])

Trump said, “Look at those hands. Are they small hands? And [Rubio] referred to my hands, if they are small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”

CNN is hosting a Republican debate Thursday night at 8:30 pm EST that will be moderated by Jake Tapper with Hugh Hewitt, Dana Bash and Stephen Dinan asking questions.
