Atlanta Hawks player Thabo Sefolosha is suing the New York Police Department over his 2015 arrest.

The lawsuit accuses the NYPD of excessive force, false arrest, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution, according to TMZ Sports.

Sefolosha was seriously injured during his arrest outside of a New York club over an incident that was believed to have been sparked by the stabbing of an NBA player in a separate incident April 8, 2015. The Swiss-born guard had to miss several games because of his injuries. (RELATED: NBA Player: Police Responsible For Season-Ending Injuries)
