Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] swept all of Wyoming’s 14 available delegates at the GOP state convention Saturday night. The convention was a culmination that began with local GOP caucuses where Wyoming Republican voters cast their ballots for delegates on March 12.

Cruz was the sole candidate to go to convention in Casper and give remarks. According to reports, he arrived prior to a major snowstorm. Donald Trump campaign surrogate Sarah Palin was scheduled to speak on Trump’s behalf Saturday, but her appearance was canceled.

“If you don’t want to see Donald Trump as the nominee, if you don’t want to hand the general (election) to Hillary Clinton, which is what a Trump nomination does, then I ask you to please support the men and women on this slate,” Cruz said, holding up a list of his 14 proposed delegates for his slate.

“We had a tremendous show of grassroots support that resulted in a critical victory at today’s Wyoming Republican Convention. This victory continues a momentum shift that started in Utah and carried through Wisconsin, North Dakota and Colorado. Grassroots are rising up,” Cruz said in an e-mail statement. “Republicans overwhelmingly elected delegates who will support us at the national convention and nominate us to take on Hillary Clinton. This is how elections are won in America. This is another step in our drive to win a majority of Republicans to be the nominee.”

Twelve of Cruz’s suggested delegates from his slate won and are bound to him on the first ballot. Additionally, the Wyoming delegates signed a non-binding pledge to remain loyal to the senator throughout the convention in Cleveland.
