Democratic National Committee Chair and Rep. [crscore]Debbie Wasserman Schultz[/crscore] warned Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton about their rhetoric, suggesting it could “make it more difficult for us to reunify.”

Appearing on Fox News’s “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace, Wasserman Schultz acknowledged that near the end of political campaigns, the war of words are “going to get a little more intense, but we need to make sure that we focus on the end game.” (WATCH: Sanders: If I’m Not The Nominee, Clinton Has To Meet My Demands)

Wallace asked the Chair of the DNC, “Does Bernie Sanders need to tone down his attacks?” (RELATED: Sanders Surrogate: I’m With Monica Lewinsky)

When Wasserman Schultz finally got around to answering Wallace’s question, she said, “I needed to preface it for a moment because they’ve done a great job at being substantive comparatively [to the Republicans]. But what I have cautioned over the last several weeks is that we need to make sure that the rhetoric that each candidate uses is such that it doesn’t make it more difficult for us to reunify.” (RELATED: Bernie Sanders Runs Anti-Hillary Clinton Ad – A ‘Corrupt Campaign Finance System’)

“And I think that it’s expected in a campaign like this one as we get towards the narrow end of the funnel, we’ve only have 19 primaries left, that it’s going to get a little more intense, but we need to make sure that we focus on the end game, which is to obviously make sure that we can elect our nominee president of the United States.”
