Federal workers at the departments of State, Treasury, Justice and Health and Human Services have given at least 10 times more in campaign contributions to Democrats than Republicans so far in the 2016 election cycle.
Department of Treasury workers made the most lopsided contributions from among agencies employing the 2.2 million strong federal workforce, giving $170,897 to Democrats, versus just $1,925 to Republicans in 2015 and 2016, according to Center for Responsive Politics data compiled by FedSmith.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received $26,587, while Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont got $7,727 in their respective campaigns for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
Department of State employees have donated $299,224 to Democrats, versus $24,241 to Republicans; Health and Human Services workers have given $139,483 to Democrats, versus $12,319 to Republicans; and Department of Justice workers have donated $137,603 to Democrats, compared with $14,939 to Republicans.
Department of Veterans Affairs employees have also favored Democrats in the 2016 cycle, giving $118,834 to Democrats, versus $36,738 to Republicans. Department of Energy employees have given $120,271 to Democrats, versus $14,377 to Republicans.

U.S. Postal Service workers were the most balanced of any major federal agency so far in this election cycle, giving $162,645 to Democrats, versus $112,840 to Republicans.
The Center for Responsive Politics pulls its data from the Federal Election Commission.
The Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported that Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employee donations to Democrats have outnumbered those to Republicans by 2-1 over the last 25 years. TheDCNF also reported that Democrats received 74 percent of HHS employee contributions between 2007 and 2004.
