“She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise. This white male approached her and opened fire, striking her,” Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at a news conference Saturday. “There is no indication that he knew her. We’re looking into that to try to find a motive for the crime.”

Police say Loibl reportedly traveled over 100 miles from his St. Petersburg home to where Grimmie was performing.

“The Voice” issued a statement on its Facebook page.

“There are no words,” the statement read. “We lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice. Our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of Christina Grimmie.”
