A man sentenced to 60 years in state prison for strangling a 16-year-old girl and shoving her in a barrel, escaped from an Arkansas jail Monday.
Inmate Lloyd Collins Jones was ushered to a local construction site around two miles from the prison by armed employees of East Arkansas Regional Unit, where he was to participate in a work program. Jones completely disappeared from officials’s view around midday.
Arkansas Department of Corrections published an alert on its website detailing personal characteristics of Jones and provided a picture for citizens.

Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department also petitioned the public’s assistance in finding Jones by posting details of his physical appearance, where and when he escaped, as well as where and when he was last seen.
Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree murder of Angela Allen, transmitting child porn and abusing a corpse in 2012, according to Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
While on a date with Allen, Jones kissed the girl, but the soon-to-be-killer became incensed when he learned she was underage. A week later, Allen’s body was found stuffed in a blue plastic barrel that was buried on property owned by Jones’ family.
During the trial, Allen’s family testified in a statement, and called Jones “a disgrace to this planet.”
Jones was previously found guilty of rape in a separate case dating back to 2000.
