Pat Summitt, considered to be the greatest women’s basketball coach of all time, died on Tuesday morning at the age of 64. The sad news prompted a lot of reflection in the sports community on Summitt’s career. It also prompted a lot of people to buy Summitt’s book.

In 2013, Pat Summitt released “Sum It Up” (subtitled “A Thousand and Ninety-Eight Victories, a Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective”). By all accounts this is a phenomenal memoir, after all it has a nearly unheard-of 4.9 out of 5 star customer rating on Amazon (an aggregate score from 687 reviews). Apparently it was also nominated for a “Goodreads Choice Award,” whatever that is.

Good thing this is a good book, because a lot of people are now buying it. Despite being years old, “Sum It Up” holds the top position on the Amazon Bestsellers list in Sports Coaching. And that’s just the paperback. “Sum It Up” also occupies spot #2 (Kindle edition), #4 (audiobook), #14 (hardcover) and #18 (another paperback).

In addition to talking about her coaching career, “Sum It Up” tackles her battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

But wait, there’s more. In her lifetime, Summitt wrote two other books: “Reach for the Summitt” and “Raise the Roof.” “Raise the Roof” now occupies the #1 and #3 Bestseller spots on the Women in Sports list.

All three of Summitt’s books were co-written with sportswriter Sally Jenkins.
