“WAKE UP AMERICA!” is the insistent cry of Eric Bolling, co-host of Fox News’s “The Five.” Bolling maintains that if the country does not wake up, the United States may move so far left that we will be unable to “find the right path back to conservatism.”

In an interview with The Daily Caller about his best-selling new book — Wake Up America: The Nine Virtues That Made Our Nation Great–and Why We Need Them More Than Ever — Bolling said, “There’s an appetite for conservatism that the left has been stifling for a long time.” (RELATED: The Nine Virtues That Can Restore America)

Recalling his recent Philadelphia book signing, Bolling said, “I got off the Amtrak. There were 350 people in the room, all conservatives that are dying to be heard. They’ve been told that they can’t say this or they can’t think this, and they’re so tired of it.”

“The conservative movement wants to be heard again,” Bolling said. “They’ve been put down, they’ve been told that they’re bigoted, that they’re racist or sexist or xenophobic, and they’re saying, ‘No, we’re really not. We just want our say too.’”

Bolling told TheDC that he wrote the book “because things were sliding so far to the left” under the presidency of Barack Obama.

Not only has Obama “proceeded for seven and a half years to pull us left,” but he has even prompted many Americans to court a “communist” to replace him (Bernie Sanders).

“It blows me away that a Socialist—basically a communist—came within a hair of becoming the Democrat nominee and maybe even the President of the United States,” Bolling said. “We fought wars pushing back communism and socialism, but the liberal wilderness has infected politics, it has infected the media, and it has infected academia to the point where it is almost acceptable to be a socialist and run for president.”

Recalling his rise from a “dead-poor” upbringing to now sitting in the middle seat on Fox News’s “The Five,” Bolling said, “The reason I’ve been able to [walk] that path is because of capitalism and American values and virtues and success and the free market—and being pro-capitalist. I’m proud of it. I’m not embarrassed by it or shunning it like maybe Mitt Romney did in 2012.”

At the rate the left is spreading in America, Bolling told TheDC, in four years “we may have gone so far left that we can’t even find the right path back to conservatism.”

Regarding the upcoming election, Bolling said if Hillary Clinton wins the election in November, she will be able to appoint one, two, or three Supreme Court justices and make it a very liberal court. According to Bolling, a liberal court would put “every single right is at risk,” specifically the First and Second Amendments. Bolling continued: if Clinton is elected, the immigration discussion will “fall to the left. We already know what happened with abortion and affirmative action.” If a liberal is elected, America “will be a vastly different country.”

Bolling said that the conservative movement needs “someone who speaks for them and who is loud enough and who is willing to be shot down and to fight for conservative voice and viewpoints… The conservative movement is in dire need of a leader.”

Furthermore, “America direly needs to be nationalistic. The left and, frankly, establishment Republicans have been pushing a global agenda on us, and I think it’s a very, very severe mistake.”

America has “everything we need here.” Instead of America “begging” to be part the rest of the world, “The world should be coming to us, asking to be involved with us.”

Proposing a solution, Bolling argues that restoring these nine virtues to the culture can restore America: grit, profit, manliness, thrift, individuality, dominion, merit, pride, and providence.
