A poll of European people’s views on immigration show a sharp increase in anti-Muslim sentiment.

Seven out of 10 countries that took part in a Pew Research Center poll released Monday have a significantly higher portion of people with unfavorable views of Muslims compared to the same time last year. A majority of people in most countries don’t have unfavorable views of Muslim, but most people believe migrants increase the likelihood of terrorism in their countries.

The largest jump, 12 percentage points, can be found in Greece, where 65 percent dislike Muslims. Greece is the country through which the vast majority of migrants who came to Europe in 2015 entered. Italy and Hungary, two other countries on the refugee path, have the highest rates of unfavorable views altogether.

Few Europeans think diversity has a positive impact on society. Sweden is the country with the highest rate of people who welcome diversity at a mere 36 percent. (RELATED: Majority Of Germans Don’t Think There Is A Place For Islam In Society)

The same tendencies can be found in recent elections in Europe. A nationalist party won its own majority in Poland last year. The National Front in France and the Party for Freedom in the Netherlands are in contention to do the same when their countries hold elections next year. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Polish Secretary Of State Says Image Of A ‘Broken State’ Is ‘Rubbish’)
