Former Republican presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz clarified his position after failing to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC yesterday, saying his decision should not be confused as support for Hillary Clinton.

“This isn’t just a team sport…This is about standing for what we believe in,” Cruz told the delegates from Texas.
On the question of not endorsing Trump, Cruz remarked, “I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father,” Cruz said. “Neither he nor his campaign has taken back a word of what they said about my family.” Donald Trump attacked Heidi Cruz’s  appearance in a tweet, and later accused Cruz’s father of being part of the  conspiracy to kill President John F. Kennedy in Dallas.
A delegate from Texas asked Cruz if he planned to vote for Trump, in spite of personal misgivings. “I will answer the same way I’ll answer many many times,” Cruz said. “I am doing what millions of Americans are doing. I’m watching, I’m listening. As I told you last night the standard I intend to apply is, which candidate I trust to defend our freedom, be faithful to the Constitution.”
Cruz made sure to add that he was not going to vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Cruz spoke at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night following a prepared video by Sen. Marco Rubio. Most Republicans assumed Cruz planned on endorsing Trump, but cheers quickly turned into boos, after it became apparent he would not endorse Trump.
