During a campaign rally in Ashburn, Virginia on Tuesday, Donald Trump was given a Purple Heart by a veteran who was in attendance.
Trump said, “Something very nice just happened to me. A man came up to me and he handed me his Purple Heart.”
“I said to him, ‘Is that like the real one or is that a copy?’ And he said, ‘That’s my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.’ And I said, ‘Man, that’s like big stuff.’ I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier, but I tell you it was such an honor.”
The man, Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman then came up on the stage and shook hands with Trump to chants of “USA.”
McClatchy reports that Dorfman received his Purple Heart when he was wounded in action in Iraq in November 2007.
