Former MLB player Dwight Gooden has his own history with drugs, and is sending Johnny Manziel some advice.

“I hate to say it but I’ve been there myself. I’ve been there where you can tell a person all the right things he needs to hear, and the person knows they need to here. Until that person is ready to get clean and sober it’s a waste of time. It’s sad to say, but I’m just giving you the facts. That person has to be ready,” Gooden told Dan Patrick during an appearance on his show Thursday. (PHOTOS: Meet The Playboy Model Manziel Is Vacationing With In Mexico)

Gooden has struggled with drugs in the past, and even admitted in a Dan Patrick interview that he used cocaine. Rumors have been swirling that he is back to doing drugs, and the rumors are so fierce that the New York Yankees have offered to send him to rehab.

Manziel is also well known for his partying habits, and has often been in the news for being at night clubs. The former Heisman winner also failed a drug test from the NFL, which resulted in a four-game suspension. (RELATED: NFL Suspends Manziel For Four Games)

Lately Manziel appears to have turned things around and is headed in the right direction.
