But first, let’s take a look back at May 31, 2014. That’s the day President Obama held a Rose Garden press conference to announce the release of Bowe Bergdahl from Taliban captivity in Afghanistan:

So, we traded five high-value Taliban officers for one American hero. How has that whole thing turned out?

Serious injuries to two soldiers who searched for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in 2009 show that he endangered his comrades by leaving his post in Afghanistan, prosecutors argue in a new filing.
The Sept. 1 motion lays out how prosecutors plan to tie the injuries into arguments that Bergdahl is guilty of misbehavior before the enemy, a relatively rare charge that carries up to a life sentence…
Prosecutors say that Mark Allen, then a National Guard sergeant first class, was part of a search mission about a week after Bergdahl disappeared from his post. Allen was shot in the head on July 8, 2009, and suffered traumatic brain injuries that leave him dependent on a wheelchair and unable to communicate, prosecutors say.
The filing also says that Spc. Jonathan Morita suffered broken bones and other hand and arm injuries when a rocket propelled grenade was fired at him.
Bowe Bergdahl did this. He deserted his post, and it directly endangered his brothers in arms. He’s not a hero. He’s not a victim. He made a conscious choice, and now he must be held accountable for the consequences of that choice.
One thing is for sure: You won’t see President Obama giving a press conference with the parents of Mark Allen and Jonathan Morita. After all, those men served their country with honor. What’s cool about that?
Life in prison won’t be so bad, Bowe. At least you’re not confined to a wheelchair for the rest of your life. At least you can still communicate with the people who love you. Count your blessings.
