A Fort Leavenworth hospital employee has been accused of setting his supervisor on fire.

Not only did he apparently set her on fire last Wednesday, he also tried to stab her with scissors, Army Times reports.

Other employees were alerted to the attack by hospital supervisor Katie Ann Blanchard’s screams, at which point the first witness, Deanne Michele Kilian, rushed over and found Blanchard on fire from the chest upward.

Kilian did her best to help put out the flames. Other witnesses arrived and tackled 54-year-old Clifton Currie, the employee involved. Currie at the time was holding a pair of scissors and a straight-edged razor. While Blanchard was on fire, Currie had his boot on her throat and tried to stab her.

Perhaps the worst thing about the attack is that as Blanchard was on fire, she screamed, “I told you this would happen,” referencing times past when she expressed how uncomfortable she was around Currie. When counseling Currie, she always wanted another employee nearby.

Currie was charged with one count of assault with intent to commit murder, according to a Department of Justice press release. If the charge goes through and he’s convicted, he could land in jail for 20 years and have to pay a fine of up to $250,000.
