Seattle Seahawks superstar corner Richard Sherman criticized the NFL management for not caring about the long-term safety of players.

Sherman appeared in a video for The Players’ Tribune and also wrote a short piece about why he thinks the NFL owners don’t really care about players. (SLIDESHOW: Celebrate The NFL Season With The Hottest Cheerleaders In The Game)

“We play a violent game that has a one hundred percent injury rate,” Sherman wrote. “So now that we’re a couple of weeks into the season, everybody’s banged up — some guys worse than others, some teams worse than others. But everybody’s feeling it. It just comes with the territory —— decisions and sacrifices you willingly make coming into this game.”

“But as dedicated as we players are to this game, it’s getting more and more difficult to ignore the fact that we don’t have a league that shows the same kind of dedication when it comes to taking care of the players who are laying their bodies on the line every Sunday,” he continued.

The outspoken football star also hammered the NFL for not protecting Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton after he took a brutal shot to the head. Medical personnel allowed him to re-enter the game instead of pulling him out.
