ST. LOUIS, MO — John Podesta, chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, called the Trump campaign’s press conference with Clinton’s accusers “desperate.”

When asked by reporters about Trump’s apology regarding his 2005 sexually inappropriate comments about an unnamed woman and his deflection to Bill Clinton, Podesta responded, “Trump is desperate he’s trying to take this race to a place in the gutter and we’re not going there.”

The women — Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and Paula Jones — had gathered at a press conference with Trump prior the debate. Kathy Shelton, a 51 year old woman who was raped at 12 years of age by a man who was defended in court by Hillary Clinton, was also at the press conference to tell her story.

When asked about the women and their credibility, Podesta responded, “I think he’s desperate. I think he wants to take the conversation there. We’re not going there.”

The Daily Caller pressed him further on the issue and he said, “Well look, I think that he claimed, as I said earlier, he tried to rattle her I guess. She wasn’t rattled. She stood her ground.”
