Former Army Lt. Col. Steven Jon Frederiksen was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for producing child pornography.

Frederiksen pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography production and one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.

The most remarkable element of 42-year-old Frederiksen’s story was that he actually used a government-issued laptop to produce the pornography, The Free Lance-Star reports.

After receiving a tip, all it took was a phone call from the Defense Intelligence Agency to the Army Criminal Investigation Command Nov. 10, 2015, to bring about Frederiksen, as it was obvious he was using the computer for abhorrent purposes.

Some of those purposes included viewing pictures and videos of underage girls that were excessively suggestive.

Not only did he look at pictures and videos, but he also used social media apps and sites like the app Kik to talk to teenage girls. Many of his conversations with them were sexually explicit.

It took just 10 days after Nov. 10 for authorities to conduct a raid on Frederiksen’s house, at which point enforcement seized four of his electronic devices.

Frederiksen quickly admitted to out-of-bounds interactions with girls aged 14-17. He said he enticed at least four to send compromising pictures of themselves.

Frederiksen, who joined the Army in 1995, has been sitting in jail since March.
