A New Mexico police officer was put on administrative leave after allegations surfaced that he exposed himself to the Domino’s delivery lady.

The 20-year-old delivery girl accused off-duty officer William Gonzalez of opening the door naked when she came to deliver his pizza, reports KRQE.

“It is truly sad that an employee knowing right from wrong still does wrong against all reason, it is also sad that an employee will put a fellow employee in a tough position,” Las Cruces police chief Jaime Montoya said in a statement.

Gonzalez made no attempt to conceal himself when he answered the door, according to the police report, claiming he had just gotten out of the shower, though his hair was not wet, the girl said.

The girl asked Gonzalez to sign the receipt; when he gave it back to her, he told her he “had no way of knowing (the delivery person) was going to be girl.”

Gonzalez told the girl to wait while he got her tip. When he came back, he had still not tried to cover himself, she said.

After the pizza girl reported the incident, fellow officer Juan Roman was dispatched to Gonzalez’s house. Gonzalez allegedly asked Roman to keep the incident quiet.

“At that point Mr. Gonzalez then made the statement to the effect that if I could make this go away and speak to the reporting [officer] to not file a report, advising that if anybody found out his career would be over,” Roman wrote in the report.

The pizza girl maintained that this was not the first time Gonzalez had tried to expose himself to her. She said she delivered a pizza to the house previously, and Gonzalez answered the door wearing only basketball shorts.

He apologized to her, saying that his friends had “dared him” to answer the door naked. The house seemed empty though, the girl said.

Montoya praised the response of the officers who investigated the pizza incident.

“I’m proud that [our] employees recognize our rules and policies and have the strength to report these incidents because it is the right thing to do,” he said. “All conduct whether on or off duty is a direct reflection of who we are as an organization. If that conduct is against our values or policies our employees will be held accountable.”
