According to the Associated Press, the administration is ending the “wet foot, dry foot” policy.

Senior administration officials told the AP the policy change will immediately go into effect.

“Wet foot, dry foot” grants legal, residential status to Cuban immigrants who come to the United States without visas.

Obama’s team has reportedly been negotiating the policy change with Cuba ever since the two countries began patching up diplomatic relations back in 2016.
