White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said President Donald Trump will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Feb. 15, in a Monday briefing with reporters.
Netanyahu and Trump have both indicated a willingness to pursue close relations. Netanyahu even came to Trump’s defense over his decision to move forward on a U.S.-Mexico border wall in a Saturday tweet.
Trump similarly hammered the Obama administration’s decision not to veto a censure of Israel in December, and said he would be a “friend” of Israel while in the White House. The two will also likely discuss the Iranian nuclear deal, which both Trump and Netanyahu oppose.
Spicer added during the press conference that Trump’s prospective decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem is in the early stages of the decision making process.
