Democrats think they’ve found a way to respond to President Donald Trump’s policies in real time — form a “Shadow Cabinet” to rebut the president on Twitter.
A left-wing shadow cabinet made up of former government officials and liberal activists will use the Twitter handle @ShadowingTrump. They want to be taken seriously, so their first tweet is a collection of movie clips about “putting together a team of people with special abilities.”
So who’s on that special team? It’s a who’s who of former Democratic officials, liberal scholars and activists who will take fake cabinet positions, tweeting rebuttals to specific Trump policies.
Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe, for example, is the shadow attorney general, while Deray McKesson, the founder of Black Lives Matter, will counter-tweet on “justice issues,” according to a list obtained by Axios.
David Freeman, a former Tennessee Valley Authority chairman now serving as a consultant to environmental activists, will basically act as the shadow secretary of energy and Environmental Protection Agency administrator.
Former New York City Public Advocate Mark Green formed the account after “six weeks of frantic phoning, emailing and fundraising,” Axios reported.
