Fewer people watched President Trump address Congress for the first time than tuned in to see Barack Obama do the same in 2009.
According to Nielsen’s metered market overnight ratings, the president received a 27.8 household rating across seven networks — ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC — Tuesday night.
That is 17 percent lower than the 33.4 rating Obama received when addressed the joint session in 2009.
Fox News maintained the highest ratings of all the networks Tuesday night with a 6.4 household rating Tuesday. Their coverage was followed in ratings by NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and MSNBC.
