Jake Tapper: The Public Has Reason To Be Skeptical Of The Media

Jake Tapper thinks it’s at least partially the media’s fault that the public doesn’t trust them.

“Some of the distrust of the media is the media’s fault,” Tapper said while taking part in a panel at the National Press Club on Friday. “There have been a number of scandals in the past decade where people in the media were not telling the truth.”

Tapper added that he thought the media’s election coverage relied too heavily on polling numbers.

“There is a reason for the public to have skepticism of the media,” he went on to say. (RELATED: President Trump More Popular Than The Media)

Tapper added that Twitter hasn’t always been beneficial for journalism, in that reporters are expressing their “every emotion” on the social media site.

Tapper also said that reporters need to be careful about not giving media critics ammunition.

“We need to make sure that when we do reports on President Trump and the administration, every word every letter needs to be 100 percent right,” Tapper said.
