President Trump has got itchy Twitter fingers again and is calling it “fake news” that Roger Stone gave him the advice to fire James Comey.
CNN and Politico reported Wednesday that Roger Stone was among those who recommended Trump fire Comey.
When Comey was fired, Stone tweeted, “IT’S ABOUT TIME!” with a link to a NY Times article breaking the news.
IT’S ABOUT TIME! #DRAINTHESWAMP

Trump tweeted about the CNN report, calling it “false,” explaining he doesn’t even talk to Roger Stone anymore.
“Fake News. Have not spoken to Roger in a long time – had nothing to do with my decision,” the president said.
The Roger Stone report on @CNN is false – Fake News. Have not spoken to Roger in a long time – had nothing to do with my decision.

Stone claimed last week that he still communicates with Trump, and said their latest conversation was relatively recent. (RELATED: Roger Stone Still Talks With President Trump)
Nonetheless, Stone denied that he was a source for the CNN or Politico reports and said that while he supports the firing, he never claimed he was behind the decision.
I am not the source of Politico/ CNN stories claiming I urged @realDonaldTrump 2 fire Comey. Never made such claim. I support decision 100%

Stone is currently under the microscope of the FBI as part of their investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
