CNN cancelled Reza Aslan’s show, “Believer,” on Friday after the host called President Trump a “piece of shit” in a tweet last Saturday.
Aslan sent out the vulgar tweet in response to Trump’s insistence after the London terror attacks that courts stop blocking his travel ban.
“I lost my cool and responded to him in a derogatory fashion. That’s not like me,” Aslan said in a statement after being criticized for the tweet. “I should have used better language to express my shock and frustration at the president’s lack of decorum and sympathy for the victims of London. I apologize for my choice of words.”
However, as The Daily Caller pointed out at the time, Aslan actually had a long history of sending profane tweets at his political opponents, including telling Dinesh D’Souza to “go fuck yourself.” (RELATED: CNN Host Who Called Trump A ‘Piece Of Sh**’ Has History Of Profane Tweets)
CNN initially said that they were “pleased” that Aslan apologized for his tweet, but pointed out that he was not an official employee of CNN.
Nonetheless, the criticism apparently became too much to bear and CNN cancelled Aslan’s show on Friday, stating, “We wish Reza and his production team all the best.”
