A GOP official retweeted an article Tuesday asking Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain to “Please Just Fucking Die Already,” according to The Washington Post.

In a now deleted tweet, Nevada Republican National Committeewoman Diana Orrock posted the blunt article along with the message “Amen,” The Washington Post reported.

Orrock apologized on twitter and told CNN she did not actually want McCain to die, she was merely agreeing with the “sentiments” expressed in the article.

The article, posted on Medium, explicitly wished for the senator’s death following his recent eye surgery.

“If you’re waiting for the part where I say I’m just kidding and would never wish death on anybody, please allow me to make myself clear: I sincerely, genuinely hope that Arizona Senator John McCain’s heart stops beating, and that he is subsequently declared dead by qualified medical professionals very soon,” the article said.

Orrock is not a “big fan” of McCain’s stance on foreign policy, she told CNN

Orrock’s displeasure with McCain and his policy positions stems back years, Digital Trends’ Mike Flacy pointed out on twitter. In a response to Orrock’s apology tweet, Flacy posted a screenshot of tweets Orrock sent slamming McCain as far back as 2011.
