A police officer and toddler shared a cup of tea together to mark one year since he helped the child’s mother give birth in a gas station.
Deputy Constable Mark Diebold of Tarrent County, Texas enjoyed teatime with Evelyn Hall, the baby he helped deliver at a gas station in 2016.
The officer first met Hall’s parents when he flashed his lights to tell them that they were speeding. The father, Caleb Hall, responded that he was driving fast because his wife in labor. The couple pulled over into a gas station, where Destiny Hall soon delivered the baby.
Caleb caught the little girl as his wife gave birth, and Diebold cleared the infant’s airway.
“It was such a wild, weird and wonderful experience,” Destiny Hall said in a 2016 interview with Huffington Post.
The Halls now consider Diebold as family, referring to him as “Uncle Mark.”
“Mark Diebold, without a doubt, is one of the most genuine, loving, thoughtful and caring [people] we have ever met. He is quick to think of others and we are so blessed to call him friend and family,” Destiny Hall told ABC News.
